Vue 3 & Django stack
Entra ID / RBAC secure
Adopted visual template
The Problem
Steinemann, a leading manufacturer of wide-belt sanding machines, needed a way for their sales teams to demonstrate optimal sanding line configurations to prospects and help existing customers analyze and optimize their production line efficiency. Previously, calculations and configurations were done manually or via fragmented spreadsheets, with no central tool to visualize sanding parameters, calculate abrasive costs, or enforce Role-Based Access Control (RBAC) and corporate Microsoft Entra ID authentication.
Constraints
- [01]Must integrate securely with Steinemann's corporate Microsoft Entra ID (Azure AD) authentication flow
- [02]Dynamic configuration formulas for wide-belt sanding machines must calculate production data in real time
- [03]Mobile-first design for sales reps using tablets/phones on the factory floor
- [04]Strict data separation and RBAC: customers can only view their own machine telemetry and import history
Our Approach
We built a mobile-optimized mini-app using Vue 3 and TypeScript for the frontend, backed by a Django REST Framework (DRF) API connected to Microsoft Entra ID for secure RBAC. The UI was designed from the ground up to be highly intuitive, which eventually became the visual template adopted across the entire Alpamayo ecosystem. We implemented real-time calculation wizards for sales configuration, field data management, and import wizards that allow operators to upload CSV/Excel files containing production parameters directly into a secure PostgreSQL database.
Redesigning utility tools with mobile-first layouts, secure corporate SSO (Entra ID), and wizard-based file importers bridges the gap between complex engineering calculations and real-world sales operations.

Outcome
- Redesigned UI adopted as the visual system standard across the entire Alpamayo product suite
- Mobile-optimized app with secure corporate Entra ID login and RBAC successfully shipped to production
- Import wizards and field data management tools enabled customer self-service data onboarding
- Allowed sales reps to generate configuration models instantly on-site with customers
Why this matters
Sanding Performance shows how a utility tool can drive hardware sales. By replacing manual spreadsheets with a secure, mobile-friendly application, Steinemann's sales team can demonstrate optimization metrics on the spot, turning engineering calculations into a powerful sales closer. For us, it was also the project where our frontend design standards proved their value by becoming the UI template for the entire Alpamayo group.
