Client
Alpamayo
The Problem
Alpamayo needed an engineering partner who could deliver across the full edge stack — edge services, AI agent backends, dashboards, and the messaging layer that ties them together. Multi-customer, multi-site, and resilient enough to run unattended in a factory. The work spanned PREKIT itself and several industrial customer applications layered on top of it — equipment monitoring, predictive maintenance, and quality control programs running in real production environments.
Constraints
- Swiss engineering rigor — code quality, documentation, and review standards are tight
- mTLS everywhere — every service-to-service link is authenticated and encrypted
- Industry 4.0 protocols — MQTT and OPC-UA as first-class citizens, not adapters
- Multi-tenant from day one — one platform, many customer applications
- Real-time constraints — latency budgets defined by the equipment, not the dashboard
- Edge-first — services must survive intermittent connectivity and run on constrained hardware
Our Approach
Idin Studio embedded as a remote engineering partner — not a vendor handing over a deliverable. The work runs on the same structured agentic workflow Idin Studio uses for every project — a layered .claude system with global skills and project-specific rules. Every change goes through the same review path. Delivered across the stack: edge node services in Python running on factory-floor hardware integrating with PLCs via OPC-UA; AI agent backend with agentic workflows for diagnostics, anomaly detection, and operator-facing automation; predictive maintenance signal processing and model pipelines tied to live equipment telemetry; real-time dashboards fed by MQTT streams with alerting and historical replay; MQTT communication backbone covering topic design, retention policies, and bridge configuration across customer sites; multiple industrial customer applications built on PREKIT covering equipment monitoring and quality inspection workflows.
Tech Stack
Outcome
- PREKIT and its customer applications run in production at industrial sites today
- Real-time equipment monitoring and predictive maintenance are live, not pilots
- Alpamayo can roll out customer programs faster — the edge stack is reusable, not rebuilt per site
- Engagement has continued without interruption since October 2024 — past the point where most freelance contracts churn
Why this matters
Industrial IoT is unforgiving. Swiss industrial clients are even less forgiving. The fact that this engagement is still active after 18+ months — with verifiable Upwork-side proof — is the case study. Founder-led: Idin personally owns the architecture and critical code. Top Rated Plus on Upwork with $30K+ verified earnings on this engagement alone. 100% Job Success Score across all contracts on the agency. Ongoing since October 2024 — not a one-off project, a working partnership.
